What is a Croupier?

A casino dealer is someone appointed at a gaming table to operate the smooth running of the game, to accurately pay bets and make payouts. A Croupier ensures that the game operates to casino procedure.

What it takes to be a Croupier ?

Attributes needed to become a Casino Dealer.

  • Minimum of 21 years of age with good hearing and clear speech;

  • No criminal record;

  • 10th grade reading and math level as measured by the Tests of Adult Basic Education.

  • Well-groomed with clean and tidy appearance, outgoing personality and enjoy meeting people;

  • An interview with the Jogser Training officer to review the Tests of Adult Basic Education scores and to discuss any prerequisites needed for enrollment.

  • The ability to think quickly, calculate and work with numbers

  • To be able to distinguish colors

  • Capable of manual dexterity and capable of working with the public and handling money.

  • To be a good team player and communicate easily with others in a polite and friendly manner.

  • Have the drive to learn and be motivated, be happy and to accept a disciplined, controlled environment.

  • Speak English and be prepared to work a 6-8 month contract at sea and one year contract on land based Casinos. If you meet with the above, then you are half way there.

Technician

Slot Machine Technician 1 - Entry Level
Slot Machine Technician 2 - Advance Level

Both of these course focuses on entire slot operations required to produce an efficient Slot Technician. Areas of emphasis will include introduction to electronics and digital circuits, slot machine validation systems and familiarization with slot communications for player tracking. Slot troubleshooting and repair are highly stressed. A High School Diploma or equivalency is mandatory.

Croupier Course for Cruise Ship Casino

Previous game training is required for this course. It includes training for American Blackjack, American Roulette, Three Card Poker and Fun21 Blackjack. Areas of emphasis are computation of bets, technical ability, game security, hole card protection, requirement of guest service and Croupier’s etiquette.

Most importantly with this course candidates will learn all the side bets for each game included and they will be ready to deal proficiently and at the same time providing satisfactory level of guest experience.

American Blackjack

This course focuses on fundamentals of dealing Blackjack with an emphasis on card totaling, chip handling, shuffling, multiple deck delivery, payoff odds (6:5 and 3:2), hole card protection, various play options, accuracy and game speed. In addition special attention is given to the managerial aspects of Blackjack, game security, usage of Tech Art device and side bets offered on Cruise ships.

American Roulette

This course focuses on fundamentals of dealing Roulette with an emphasis on accurate and quick mental computations, chip handling techniques, layout awareness, spinning the ball and wheel, stack pushing techniques, outside betting procedures and payoffs, inside betting procedures and payoffs, complex payoffs, table limits, pattern recognition, chip values, conversions and check racking, odds on all bets. In addition special attention given to the managerial aspects of Roulette, game security, knowledge of 00 Roulette dealing procedures and side bets offered on the Cruise ships.

Three Card Poker and Let it Ride

This course focuses on fundamentals of dealing poker with an emphasis on accurate and quick mental computations, card handling, chip handling, shuffling, payoff odds for individual hands, various play options, accuracy, game speed and the various poker hands. Special attention is given to the managerial aspects of poker, game security, side bets offered on Cruise ships and students are introduced to Three Card Poker and Let It Ride Poker dealing procedures.

Fun21 and Face up Blackjack

This course focuses on fundamentals of dealing Fun21 and Face up Blackjack with an emphasis on card totaling, chip handling, shuffling, multiple deck delivery, payoff odds 3:2, various play options, accuracy and game speed. In addition, special attention given to the managerial aspects of games, usage of the Tech Art device and hole card protection for Fun21, game security and most importantly side bets offered on Cruise ships.

Andar Bahar (Indian Game)

This course focuses on fundamentals of dealing Andar Bahar with an emphasis on card totaling, chip handling, shuffling, single deck delivery, additional bets, accuracy, payouts and game speed. In addition special attention given to the managerial aspects of Andar Bahar, game security and dealing pattern followed at the Land based casinos.

TeenPatti (Indian Game)

This course focuses on fundamentals of dealing TeenPatti with an emphasis on card totaling, chip handling, shuffling, additional bets (Chaal, Pack, Blind and Show), accuracy, payouts and game speed. In addition special attention given to the managerial aspects of TeenPatti, game security and dealing pattern followed at the Land based casinos.

Technician Courses

Our structured curriculum concentrates on entire slot operation required to produce an efficient Slot Technicians and Slot Attendants. Areas of emphasis will include introduction to electronics and digital circuits, slot machine validation systems and familiarization with slot communications for player tracking, slot troubleshooting and repair are highly stressed.

A High school diploma or equivalency in electronics is mandatory for either of the courses.

Slot Technician A

The Slot Technician 1 course prepares students for entry into the technical operation of the Gaming Industry. Content emphasizes beginning skills and concepts as a recommended requisite. Students study the gaming equipment, laboratory practices, communication skills, customer relations, and casino related issues.

Slot Technician B

The Slot Technician 2 course prepares students for entry into the technical operation of the Gaming Industry. Content emphasizes beginning skills and concepts as a recommended requisite. Students study electronic fundamentals, soldering and laboratory practices, direct current (DC), alternating current (AC), solid state devices, microprocessors, electronic test equipment, gaming machines, and casino related issues. Knowledge of surveillance and or gaming equipment will be added benefit.

Basic Safety Training (BST)

This course is required for seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board ship at all levels such as deck and engine room rating qualifications, for most navigation, and all engineering certificates of competency. The course is for new entrants to the larger ships in the marine industry, or experienced mariners who have not had previous safety training, with the knowledge and skills to contain, report, and respond to a marine emergency, fight fire, abandon ship and understand the basics of workplace saftey.

Elementary First Aid

This course aims to provide the training for candidates to provide elementary first aid on board ship, in accordance with the STCW Code. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in elementary first aid, a trainee will be competent to take immediate action upon encountering an accident or medical emergency until the arrival of a person with medical first aid skills or the person in charge of medical care on board.

Personal Safety And Social Responsibility

This course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for seafarers for familiarization, basic safety training and instruction in accordance with the STCW Code. This course will give new seafarers an insight into the various elements of a ship and working procedures on board so that they adjust to the shipboard environment, and are better prepared to cope with any unforeseen circumstances. A trainee successfully completing this course will be able to – comply with emergency procedures, take precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment, observe safe working practices, understand orders and be understood in relation to shipboard, and contribute to effective human relationships on board ship. 

Personal Survival Techniques & Refresher

This course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for seafarers for familiarization, basic safety training and instruction in accordance with STCW Code. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in personal survival techniques, Communications, Control of Fatigue, Teamwork, and marine environmental awareness. A trainee will be able to survive at sea in the event of ship abandonment. 

Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting & Refresher

This course aims to provide the training for candidates in fire prevention and fighting in accordance with the STCW Code. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in fire prevention and fire fighting, a trainee will be competent to take appropriate measures for the safety of personnel and of the ship and to use fire appliances correctly. The trainee will also have knowledge of fire prevention.

Crowd Management

Before being assigned shipboard duties, personnel providing direct service to passengers in passenger spaces must receive additional safety training. This training is for crew members of passenger ships, both conventional and rolling (ro-ro), with 500 GT tonnage or that are authorized to carry 300 or more passengers.

Crisis Management

STCW 2010 Code calls for crew to follow approved training in Crisis Management and Human Behaviour. Passenger ships carry large numbers of people, so it is vital for crew to have an understanding and an ability to assist and communicate with passengers in any emergency situation.
